Camino de Santiago: An Experience of a Lifetime!

Whichever route you choose, or even whatever your motivation, the Camino de Santiago is a unique experience!

On foot or by bike, we offer intense days, partly because of the route, but also because of the personal challenge.

The contact with nature, local communities and cultures is enriched by the discovery of your inner personal resources, transforming your Camino into a profound and rewarding journey.

Path of History

The Camino de Santiago (or Way of Saint James) has been followed by millions of pilgrims since the beginning of the 9th century, when the tomb of the Apostle St. James the Greater was discovered.

Since then, people from the most diverse backgrounds have travelled along the way that leads to the Cathedral, where the relics of the Holy Apostle are venerated, giving rise to a phenomenon that continues and strengthens from day to day.

Since the Middle Age, the Camino de Santiago has been one of the most important pilgrimage routes and cultural exchanges in the history of the West. All the countries in medieval Europe actively contributed to its creation and, in fact, no nation is historically unfamiliar with it.

Routes and Itineraries

The Camino de Santiago actually has several routes, all of them exciting!

The peaceful Coastal Way, which starts in Porto and follows the Atlantic Ocean all the way to Galicia, offers contact with the incomparable beauty of the sea and the coastal communities that depend on it. Along 260 kilometres of beautiful towns full of history, such as Vila do Conde, Viana do Castelo, Caminha, La Guardia, Baiona and Vigo, you’ll find varied landscapes of beaches and farmland, forests, hills, mountains and rivers. In between, you’ll discover countless churches, monasteries, fortresses and medieval bridges.

If you follow the Portuguese Camino de Santiago, the green landscapes are just as breath-taking, with Roman roads and bridges, flowing rivers, medieval towns, fortresses and fascinating folklore. In these 245 kilometres, discover the many charming towns and rural areas that once formed part of this important commercial, cultural and spiritual route.

Culture and Tradition

As well as feeding the soul, the Camino de Santiago also feeds the intellect and…the stomach!

Right at the start of the journey, in Porto, you’ll see the Clérigos Tower. You’ll learn about the history of the Barcelos Rooster and pass São Bento da Porta Aberta, the site of famous pilgrimages. Once on Spanish soil, the historic centre of Pontevedra is a fine example of heritage restoration, and you’ll make your way to the Plaza del Obradoiro and the Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, where the Apostle awaits you.

To accompany your meal, the “fuel” is francesinha, bacalhau à Brás or rojões, flavoured with Port wine or alvarinho wine in Alto Minho. In Galicia, don’t miss the best oysters in Arcade and the pulpo a la Gallega.

One Route, Many Cultures

Whichever option you choose, you’re sure to build memories and experience the mystery of one of the oldest pilgrimage routes in the world.

You will live a transformative experience, deeply enriched by the people you meet, whether they are following the Camino or living along the route.

In addition to the best routes and itineraries, to guarantee you a well-deserved rest at the end of each journey, we select the best accommodation and take care of transfers and luggage transport!
